This was a present for my wife

My wife is really into gardening lately. She said this is a great reference set. She just graduated from the Master Gardener courses in Phoenix. She is all over the place collecting plants and she really seems to have learned a lot. If she thinks these books are good, then I am pretty darn sure she is correct. However, realize that they are very heavy. I don't see anyone wanting to carry these in their backpack during a hike. You would want to leave these at home, in the car, camper, wherever you didn't have to personally lug them. Then, bring the weeds that you want to identify back to the book set. My wife thinks that it was totally worth the $100 and she is typically very frugal, so that is also saying a whole lot. If you are way into plant identification, this set is supposed to be the best.

CEQA Biologist book

There are so many invasive weed plant species in California. This book is invaluable for the CEQA biologist who needs identification and life history information about many of the plant species observed in the field. Photos are awesome and plants are split out into family. This was a great book for field identification. However, only includes introduced weedy species, not natives.

Very useful for field biologists who need to ID wild-growing weedy plants in Calif! It's full of helpful photos of plants at various life stages (seeds, seedlings, full grown, flowering…) and includes lots of good descriptive info in the text.
