It's interesting to see a perspective from nearly 100 years ago. I read the entire book in about an hour. While obviously some of the information is outdated, it's still thought provoking and the book is still full of "food for thought".

Makes you think.

Very thought provoking. Interesting to see what some people thought back in 1917. His style is a bit reminiscent of Dion Fortune in that he can sometimes say things in such a way that you need to stop and think about what you just read because there are gems of information hidden in the most seemingly ordinary sentences. Great stuff.

In contrast to human-based random sampling or intuition, permutation-based design offers the assurance of an optimum design since any possible alternative design can be eliminated. From a practical point of view, this methodology offers a paradigmatic shift away from the current state of design practice where arbitrariness, repetition, and redundancy often exist. From a theoretical viewpoint, this new paradigm will offer alternative insights into the value of human creativity, intuition, and intelligence.

Kostas Terzidis was an Associate Professor at Harvard University Graduate School of Design from 2003 until 2012. He taught courses in Algorithmic Architecture, Kinetic Architecture, Digital Media, and Design Research Methods. He holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Michigan (1994), an M.Arch from OS (1989), and a Diploma of Engineering from the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece (1986). The book arrived on time and in good condition. :)

I have never read a book by Morris Venden that didn't touch my soul and this one was no exception. I normally try to buy one for me and one to give away - and sometimes I only have one and wind up giving it away and then look for another one for me. He helps me understand and I love to read his books and if I read it more than once, I get something new out of it everytime I read it.

Andrew has co-authored numerous editions of the Classroom in a Book series on Photoshop, After Effects, and Flash. Identical to 2014 Edition at Twice the Price

Failure to disclose that this book is identical in every way to the 2014 release, which can be bought a lot cheaper. The new updates to CC 2015 are not included in this edition. The illustrations are identical to the 2014 edition as well. Adobe should be more transparent. This ended up as a waste of time, and I returned to the Book to Amazon, since I have the 2014 edition.

Truly Worthless Book

I'd give this book a ZERO rating if I could. It is a perfect book -- if you want to learn to click buttons and fill in forms. If you want to learn to use Photoshop to do real work, this book is WORTHLESS!

The book takes you step-by-step through a number of tasks by telling you to click this or click that. And when you've finally found the button to click, it tells you to move the slider until it reads 135 or type in that value. NO WHERE AND AT NO TIME does it explain WHY you need to click here or there or why you need to move the slider until it reaches 135. Nor does the book discuss any of the hundreds of different options and explain why any of them might be of value. All it says is click here or there. It is rote learning at its very worst.

So what do you know when you're through with the book? Not one cursed thing!!! All you know is how to click here or there and you don't have a clue how to apply it to YOUR photographs.

Adobe should know better than to sell this worthless junk.
